Sr. Intellectual Property (IP) attorney is responsible for leading
projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact. As a
recognized specialist in IP law-whether from experience with IP
litigation, patent counseling/prosecution, and/or technology
transactions-the role works collaboratively within the organization
to define, oversee, and complete assignments that further the IP
goals and objectives of the business. The position embraces
groundbreaking technology and support active research and
development and licensing programs. The Sr. IP Counsel partners
closely with members of other departments, and handles a variety of
matters as an IP generalist, including portfolio management,
invention capture, patent clearances, dispute resolution,
negotiations, and M&A due diligence support.What you can
do:
- Provide strategic direction on the growth of patent and
trademark portfolios
- Lead all aspects of patent portfolio development
- Work to secure freedom-to-operate for future product and
technology roadmaps and develop response strategies where
required
- Counsel on licenses, collaboration agreements, and other
third-party transactions impacting the disposition of IP
rights
- Lead investigations into encroachments on Supernal's IP rights
and counsel on potential enforcement actions and/or licensing
activities
- Counsel on evolving developments in global IP law, recommending
policy/process changes as needed
- Provide guidance and training to internal partners on a full
range of IP topicsWhat you can contribute:
- Law degree (J.D.) required, and admission (or ability to
register as in-house counsel) to practice law where located
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering field or Computer
Science, Mathematics, or Physics from an accredited university or
college
- Minimum of six (6) years of proven experience in IP practice at
a major law firm and/or as an in-house counsel at a technology
company, with a minimum of 3-4 years of law firm experience
preferred
- Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams to
develop solutions for complicated IP challenges while balancing
priorities from multiple partners
- Hardworking IP professional with significant expertise
investigating facts, interviewing witnesses, developing
infringement / invalidity contentions, taking depositions,
conducting post-grant proceedings, drafting patent applications,
and/or counseling clients
- Experience with negotiating and documenting IP transactions,
licensing, and/or dispute settlements or with performing due
diligence in technology transactionsYou may also be able to
